Pinguicula 'Leilani'
Mexican butterwort hybrid / Cultivated hybrid of Mexican species
A compact butterwort hybrid created by Rainbow Carnivorous Plants from Pinguicula laueana and Pinguicula cyclosecta. Its leaves can develop a purple blush under bright light. During carnivorous growth, sticky leaf surfaces catch small insects that provide extra nutrients.
Supplied by the grower as Pinguicula 'Leilani'. The hybrid background is documented by its breeder; this plant's name is based on the grower's identification.

Instructions that travel with the plant.
- Place near a bright window or under a grow light. Introduce stronger light gradually and protect the leaves from harsh afternoon sun and heat.
- Use a loose Mexican butterwort mix with mineral ingredients such as perlite, pumice, and sand, in a pot with drainage. Avoid ordinary fertilized potting soil.
- Use distilled, rain, or reverse-osmosis water to keep the mix lightly moist while sticky leaves are growing. Drain excess water and keep the crown above the waterline.
- Keep frost-free, ideally around 55-85 F (13-29 C), with gentle air movement. Avoid a sealed, stagnant terrarium.
- If smaller, tighter, non-sticky succulent leaves appear, water less and let the mix become drier between light waterings. Resume regular moisture when carnivorous leaves return; do not force a dry rest while active growth continues.
