Pinguicula 'Pirouette'
Mexican butterwort hybrid / Cultivated hybrid of Mexican species
A Mexican butterwort hybrid created by Leo Song from Pinguicula agnata x (Pinguicula moranensis x Pinguicula ehlersiae). Its layered rosette can range from pale green-pink to rich pink-red depending on growing conditions, with clear pink flowers. Smaller, more succulent leaves mark its seasonal resting phase.
Confirmed by the grower as Pinguicula 'Pirouette'.

Instructions that travel with the plant.
- Place near a bright window or under a grow light. Increase light gradually and protect the plant from excessive heat; leaf color varies with growing conditions.
- Use a loose, free-draining Mexican butterwort mix with ingredients such as coarse sand, perlite, and some peat. Choose a pot with drainage and avoid pre-fertilized growing media.
- Water with distilled or reverse-osmosis water. Keep the mix lightly moist while sticky carnivorous leaves are growing, but avoid waterlogged conditions.
- When a smaller, compact succulent rosette develops, reduce watering and allow longer dry intervals. Resume regular moisture when carnivorous growth returns; follow the plant's leaf form rather than a fixed date.
- To preserve the cultivar, propagate vegetatively with leaf pullings rather than seed. Smaller succulent leaves are suitable just before or as the summer leaves begin to emerge.
